Bill Jordan – 2026 George T. Lotterhos Service Award Recipient
By Jeff Roberson
Bill Jordan played football for head coaches John Vaught and Billy Kinard at Ole Miss. After his college years, he built successful businesses in his hometown of Columbus, Ga. That didn’t allow him many opportunities to return to Ole Miss for games.
Jordan credits former teammates with helping him stay in touch with his alma mater through those years and inviting him to tailgates in the Grove. On November 5, Jordan will be honored for his lengthy association with the University of Mississippi. He will receive the George T. Lotterhos Service Award, presented by the M-Club.
“George Lotterhos was a teammate of mine,” Jordan said. “It’s just a privilege and an honor for me on a personal basis. For us, as a family, it’s just giving back to the school however we can. To have the recognition from the George Lotterhos Award is such an honor for me and my family.”
Jordan said he had other options for college when he was making his decision. After all these years, he still knows his decision back then was the right one.
“I had no clue when I was a senior in high school I’d be attending Ole Miss,” Jordan said. “Now, Ole Miss has been near and dear to my heart for so many years. The rewarding thing for me is my oldest son Tyler went there and he met his wife there. I have a daughter (Graycen) who is currently on the (UM) softball team as a pitcher. And I have a 17-year-old (Colton) who’s a (high school) senior and he will be in college next year. Looks like he’s going to Ole Miss as well. So we’ve all bought in. We certainly appreciate what Ole Miss has done for us.”
The success Ole Miss sports is currently experiencing has Jordan as one of its most ardent supporters.
“I give a shoutout to our school and our administration. I think our school has done a marvelous job in the new era of college sports. I’ve been fortunate, I got asked early-on when the collective was just getting started and the NIL, and didn’t know anything about it. I had the privilege of getting started on the collective NIL board of directors. I tell (AD) Keith Carter this all the time, I wish our fan base and our people who follow Ole Miss really knew how much work goes on behind the scenes. It’s a big job every day.”
After his time at Ole Miss, Jordan went on to create Realtree Camouflage, as well as host the Monster Bucks video series and the Realtree Outdoors television show. He received two major awards from Ole Miss in 2012 when he was inducted into the University of Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame and received the Distinguished American Award from the Ole Miss Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
In 2023, Jordan provided a financial gift to the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation fundraising campaign that was directed to CHAMPIONS. NOW., focused on improving facilities for student-athletes. In 2015, another financial gift from the Jordans named the practice field inside the Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center.
Jordan encourages others to do whatever they can for the university.
“I always tell people, however you contribute, even if it’s just a little bit, it all adds up. I’m glad to be a part and hopefully helping the school in some way.”
Jordan also knows how important the M-Club is to the continued success of Ole Miss sports.
“The neat thing about the M-Club is you’re taking former players, whatever sport, and connecting different decades together. That connection of the M-Club is very much needed. I hope we can get more who have graduated in the last 10, 15, 20, even the last five years more involved in the M-Club. It’s very important. It does connect us all. I think the neatest thing for me is just the relationships we’ve built all these years.”
